jenrgw Will We See More Distracted Driving Laws in 2011?

The move for more legal restrictions on distracted drivers has already started in at least one state.

Last week, an Arkansas state representative pre-filed a bill for the 2011 legislative session that will prohibit drivers from using cell phones, CBs, GPSs, and other forms of technology in school zones while school is in session or while children are present.

Some Arkansas municipalities have already enacted such ordinances but this would be the first statewide ban on handheld cell phone use in Arkansas for all drivers.  Currently, Arkansas bans texting and driving and handheld cell phone use by young drivers and school bus drivers.
