jenrgw Will New Nevada Rule Prevent Distracted Driving Accidents?

On Tuesday the Nevada state Board of Examiners passed a regulation prohibiting state employees from using cell phones or text messaging while operating a state owned vehicle.  There are no penalties attached to the new rule.

Studies indicate that at least 63 people have died in Nevada accidents caused by distracted drivers over the last 5 years.  Nevada has a law against distracted driving that some interpret to mean a ban against using a cell phone or texting while driving.  However, a state law to specifically address texting and cell phone use has not yet been passed, though several are pending in the state legislature.
