jenrgw Who Texts and Drives the Most in North Carolina?

According to court records reviewed by the Associated Press, the problem of texting and driving cannot be blamed entirely on teenagers.  In fact, people over the age of 25 are issued the majority of tickets under the North Carolina law banning texting and driving

Authorities are encouraging people to remember that the distracted driving law does not only apply to teens who want to keep in touch with friends. It also applies to adults who are trying to conduct business on the road.  Work can wait until you have stopped driving.

North Carolina’s distracted driving law went into effect in December 2009.  In the year since the last took effect, 1,200 tickets have been issued.  Guilford County led the state in the number of distracted driving tickets with 118 issued.  Mecklenburg County followed with 114 tickets issued.
