jenrgw Warning Period is About to Expire in Kentucky

As of January 1, 2011 the warning period for Kentucky’s new texting and driving law will expire.  When the new year starts, drivers caught texting and driving in Kentucky will be ticketed and will need to pay the fine required by law.

Kentucky’s law also prohibits drivers under the age of 18 from using cell phones and all drivers are prohibited from programming a GPS while driving.

The state highway safety office reports approximately 57,000 accidents and 200 fatalities during 2009 because of driver inattention or distraction.

Will enforcement of the new Kentucky distracted driving laws make 2011 a safer year?  We will be watching to find out.
