jenrgw U.S. Department of Transportation Announces Faces of Distracted Driving Campaign

The federal government has unleashed a new weapon in its fight against distracted driving and this one may be among the most effective weapons tried so far.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s “Faces of Distracted Driving” Campaign features videos of families who have lost a loved one in a distracted driving accident.  The videos are available on the government’s distraction.gov website and on you tube so that they reach the greatest number of people.

Why Involve Families?

While distracted driving laws are important, the decision about whether to text and drive or engage in other distracted driving behavior is ultimately a personal one.  It is a decision that every driver makes every time the driver gets behind the wheel of the car.  The government is hoping that the pain and suffering of some of the families taking part in this program will make a memorable impact on drivers who will think twice about making a decision that could cause their own families similar pain.

Distracted driving accidents not only end lives but also devastate families and communities. For each of the thousands of people who died in distracted driving accidents last year, many survivors are left suffering.

Please take our pledge to stop distracted driving and do your part to prevent future suffering.
