jenrgw Texting and Driving More Dangerous Than Previously Thought

That is the conclusion of a recent study released by the Texas Transportation Institute.  According to the study, reading or writing a text message can more than double a driver’s reaction time.  Additionally, the study found that texting and driving impaired a driver’s ability to maintain proper speed and to stay in the proper lanes.

The study is the first one published in this country to examine texting in actual vehicles rather than in a simulated environment.
