jenrgw Rhode Island Considers Law to Keep Fido Off Your Lap While Driving

According to AAA, 39% of dog owners admit being distracted by their dog in the car and 20% of dog owners admit to allowing their dogs to ride on their laps while they are driving.

Now the state of Rhode Island is considering a law that, if passed, would make it illegal for a driver to have a dog on his or her lap. The current bill proposes an $85 for a first offense, a $100 fine for a second offense, and a $125 fine for subsequent offenses. What do you think about this law? Will it prevent distracted driving accidents? Should more states consider laws to prevent pets from causing distracted driving wrecks? Please leave a comment and share your thoughts with us.
