Last week the Hartford, Connecticut Police Department, operating under a federal grant, set up distracted driving checkpoints.  In just six days, the Department ticketed more than 1,000 people for violating the Connecticut distracted driving law.

In fact, one driver was pulled over not once, but twice within an hour for distracted driving.

Police are encouraging motorists to remember that the law states that you must use a hands free device if you are talking on a cell phone while driving in Connecticut.  That means that using speakerphone or holding your phone at all is against the law.
