The father of two teenagers has reportedly developed an algorithm that would allow a cell phone to identify when a driver is sending a text message. The research used to develop the algorithm included analyzing the habits of 10,000 texters. The researchers found that the pattern of texting was predictable for drivers who were sharing their attention between the road and their texts.

The question now is how will this information be used? Will it be required by law for all drivers, for drivers who have been ticketed for distracted driving or not at all? Will parents want it installed on their children’s cell phones?

Would you want it on your child’s phone? How about on yours? Please leave a comment and let us know what you think of an app that could detect texting and driving.
