jenrgw Is There a Distracted Driving Problem in Louisiana?

In 2005, 6 percent of Louisiana motor vehicle deaths were associated with cell phone use.  By 2009, that percentage rose to 16 percent.  Injuries and deaths due to the use of other forms of electronics while driving also increased during the same period. All of this occurred while the overall motor vehicle fatality rate fell in Louisiana and around the country.

The statistics indicate that Louisiana drivers are following a disturbing trend seen around the nation.  It is up to each Louisiana driver to prevent distracted driving accidents.  We invite Louisiana drivers, and drivers from all states and territories, to pledge to end distracted driving right here, today, and to avoid the significant consequences of distracted driving accidents.
