jenrgw Idaho Ready to Join Majority of States with Texting Ban

Last week the Idaho House of Representatives passed a bill that would ban texting and driving in the state. Almost 200 people died in Idaho distracted driving accidents from 2008 -2010 and lawmakers acknowledge pressure to take action to prevent future deaths.

If the bill becomes law, a person caught texting and driving would be fined $85 and cited for a non-moving violation. The Senate passed a bill outlawing texting and driving earlier this year, but now has to approve the House bill which reduced the penalties for distracted driving and extended the ban to law enforcement and first responders.
