jenrgw Idaho Lawmakers Expected to Act Quickly

According to a recent AAA poll, 87% of Idaho drivers support a state ban on texting while driving. Yet, Idaho does not currently have a law banning texting and driving. Similarly, 59% of those surveyed support a ban on handheld cell phone use while driving.

Despite the overwhelming feelings of Idahoans, the state legislature has yet to pass a distracted driving bill. That may soon, change, however. Lawmakers are considering reintroducing a bill to ban texting and driving quickly – perhaps before the end of January –  in part because of the AAA survey.

Other states are also currently considering revising or creating distracted driving laws in 2012.  We will continue to monitor important state developments and report on the progress against distracted driving.
