jenrgw Helena Montana Passes Cell Phone Ban

As of December 7, 2011 it is no longer legal to talk on a handheld cell phone within the city limits of Helena, Montana. Generally, drivers are being given a 30 day grace period to become accustomed to the law. However, the distracted driving law may be enforced prior to the end of the 30 day period if a driver commits multiple offenses.

A driver who talks on a handheld cell phone may face a fine of up to $100 for each offense. It remains legal to talk on a cell phone via a hands free device such as Bluetooth in Helena.
