jenrgw Governor Signs New West Virginia Distracted Driving Law

Earlier this month, Governor Earl Ray Tomblin signed a new law in West Virginia. The law provides that:

• As of July 1, 2012 texting and driving in West Virginia will be a primary offense.
• As of July 1, 2012 talking on a handheld cell phone and driving in West Virginia will be a secondary offense.
• As of July 1, 2013 talking on a handheld cell phone and driving in West Virginia will be a primary offense.
