jenrgw Distracted Driving is Dangerous Unless I am Doing it

That seems to be the mindset of many American drivers according to a recent survey by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  According to the survey:

  • 95% of drivers agree that texting or emailing while driving is dangerous but 35% of drivers admit texting and/or emailing while driving in the past month.
  • 88% of drivers agree that talking on a cell phone while driving is dangerous but 65% of drivers admit talking on a cell phone and driving in the past month.

Now, the question becomes how to convince drivers that the dangers of distracted driving apply to them as much as they do to other drivers.  How do you think the government and public awareness groups could get the message across to individual drivers? Please leave a comment and let us know.
