jenrgw California Distracted Driving Deaths Double in Last Decade

Last week, the California Office of Transportation Safety released some concerning numbers about distracted driving accidents.  California officials say that distracted driving kills approximately 600 people in California each year.  Just a decade ago, there were about 300 California distracted driving deaths a year.

Officials remind drivers that the distracted driving factors that have changed in the last ten years are the prevalence of cell phones and the advent of smartphones.  Other distractions such as talking with passengers, eating in the car, unhappy children, and being in a hurry have not changed in the last decade.

Accordingly, it is important to look at the reasons why California distracted driving deaths have doubled and to take steps to protect drivers from future fatal crashes.
