Last week, the Daphne, Alabama City Council met to consider a ban on texting and driving.  At the Daphne City Council meeting, a 15 year old named Jasmine Lee got up and addressed the Council.  Ms. Lee is the Alabama Junior Teen Queen and an advocate about the dangers of distracted driving.  She reminded the council that texting and driving is as dangerous as drunk driving.

After considering Ms. Lee’s statement and others factors, the Daphne City Council voted unanimously to make texting and driving a crime in Daphne, Alabama.  Texting and driving is now punishable by a $100 fine in the city.
